Founded in 2025 by Dr. K. Rajamani and Mr. Prafull Jaltare, KNOPOWER – Academy for Power System Engineering is an innovative eLearning platform dedicated to the advancement of Power System Engineering knowledge.
With over 40 years of industry experience each and a combined 80+ years in the power sector, our founders have lived and led every aspect of the industry – from plant floor operations to corporate strategy. Their mission is simple yet powerful:

KNOPOWER – Power System Academy
Founded in 2025 by Dr. K. Rajamani and Mr. Prafull Jaltare, each with over 40 years of experience in the power industry, KNOPOWER delivers practical, real-world training in Power System Engineering.
We bridge the gap between theory and practice for students, engineers, and industry leaders, offering clear explanations without complex mathematics. Our programs are packed with hands-on insights from decades in the field – knowledge you won’t find in textbooks.

Meet our founders and instructors
Dr K Rajamani
Founder and Instructor
Dr. K. Rajamani earned his Ph.D. in Electrical Power Systems from IIT Bombay in 1975. Over the course of nearly five decades, he has held senior technical and leadership roles across consulting, engineering, utilities, and research organizations, making significant contributions to the design, analysis, and operation of electrical power systems.
From 1976 to 1996, he served with Tata Consulting Engineers, Mumbai, leading the design of electrical systems for thermal and nuclear power plants, as well as Static VAR Compensators for rolling mill applications. Between 1997 and 1998, he worked at General Electric, Schenectady, USA, specializing in dynamic stability simulations for the integrated operation of gas turbines with steel plant loads.
From 1999 to 2002, Dr. Rajamani was with Power Linkers, Mumbai, focusing on advanced protection schemes and system islanding studies. He then joined Reliance Infrastructure & Adani Electricity, Mumbai (2003–2019), where he headed the electrical group responsible for distribution, transmission, and large power generation projects, including SCADA-DMS implementations. Notably, he established the Power Quality Measurement and Monitoring Cell for Mumbai’s distribution network in 2005.
From 2020 to 2023, he returned to Power Linkers as a consultant, and he now practices as an independent consultant.
Dr. Rajamani has delivered over 150 professional training programs, reflecting his deep commitment to mentoring and knowledge sharing. His contributions have been recognized with the Industry Excellence Award by NPSC in 2018.
He has published extensively in leading international and national journals, including IEEE, IEE, IFAC, and IEEMA. IEEMA has also published a monograph compiling his articles. His book, Application Guide for Power Engineers – Part 1: Earthing & Grounding of Electrical Systems, was published in December 2018.

Mr. Prafull Jaltare
Founder and Instructor
Mr. Prafull Jaltare did his Post Graduation in Electrical Power Systems from IIT Kanpur in 1978. He started his career with Tata Consulting Engineer(TCE) Mumbai and Bangalore in their R&D Center. He was involved in various System Study projects such as Northern Regional Electricity Board, Tata Electric Companies and development of software for Relay Coordination, Tower Spotting, Lighting System design of Switchyards, Switching surge evaluation like EMTP. For major part of his career in TCE(R&D), he has worked on development of full scope replica Operator Training Simulators for fossil power plants of 500MW, 220MW and 60MW capacity and a couple of Simulator Electrical System upgrade projects in the USA. He was mainly responsible for simulation of electrical and control systems for these plants.
In 1997 he moved to an ECIL & TechCom Joint Venture company in Hyderabad & Sydney for couple of years where he worked on simulation of Toshiba's TOSMAP DCS for a 500MW fossil plant of Thailand.
In 1998 he switched to Siemens Information Systems Ltd (SISL) Bangalore where he worked in their Software Engineering Center for development of software for various Siemens product in Industry, Energy and Medical Domain gaining significant insight and knowledge in software development process, harmonization of SDLC tools, usage of Open Source Software and managing the 3i idea management program across the organization.
Post SISL he has been working in an independent capacity since 2014 on development of add on modules for SCADA (https://www.pramanj.com), system integration and digital transformation using Inductive Automation's Ignition SCADA system. He is a GOLD certified system integrator for Ignition SCADA.
With his diverse background and experience in the field of Power Systems, Power Plant Simulation, SCADA and industrial Automation and Controls he now spreads his domain knowledge. to upcoming as well as working professionals in Power domain thru KNOPOWER Academy.
